How much money does your company save by investing in workplace safety?

Investing in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) measures is not just a compliance or ethical decision, but also a strategic financial choice with significant positive impacts on both employee well-being and company profitability.

A comprehensive international study of 26 cases demonstrated that 19 businesses recouped their OHS investments in less than a year. On average, companies saw a return of $238 per worker in the first year, thanks to reduced sick leave, increased productivity, and lower medical costs.

A follow-up study in 2023 confirmed these findings, showing that for every dollar spent on OHS, businesses gained $1.38 in return—the so-called “Return on Prevention” (ROP). This includes direct benefits such as fewer work-related injuries and indirect benefits like improved employee morale and retention.

How the Hovmand Care Calculator Works

It’s simple to use and offers valuable insights:

  1. Enter your total investment in preventative measures, like purchasing a Hovmand lifter.
  2. The calculator will generate the economic benefits of your investment, distributed over three areas: savings from reduced sick leave (92%), increased productivity and quality (7%), and reduced medical costs (1%).
  3. The total benefits are calculated using the underlying ROP of 1.24, and the prevention net benefit is displayed after subtracting your total investment.

Barrel & Roll Handling
